Gas Freeing Fans
Gas Freeing of Cargo Holds is a Critical Safety Requirement for Tank Entry.
Cargo Tank entry is not premitted unless the Oxygen Content is 21% or more and the hydrocarbon vapor content is less than 1% of the Lower Flammable Level.
If the previous Cargo contains Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) or other toxic contaminants which could evolve toxic gases (e.g. benzene, toluene, mercaptans etc) the tank should be checked for such gases.
There are two types of gas freeing fan: deep penetration high volume fan and low penetration high volume fan.
The most efficient way of gas freeing is to use a Deep Penetration High Volume fan arranged to blow air into the tank. This arrangement offers the fastest Gas Freeing process. (Refer to the Gas Freeing Arrangement Drawing below.)
All the Dasic Gas Freeing Fans are of the Deep Penetration High Volume Design to give the operator the most efficient gas freeing process.
